Hi,

Some of you may know JT. He has been in the 30A Seagrove area for 20 years and has worked a lot of that time, but he has been homeless now for a while. Before moving to the beach, he led a very colorful life in the entertainment industry back in the '80s and '90s. He went to Auburn University and was their team mascot, Aubie, at one point.

My partner Ann and I met JT a few months ago and helped him out one day in January after finding out he had been in the hospital. He has Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, and trouble walking. He was released from the hospital and taken back to the beach access in Seagrove on a rainy and very cold night. Ann and a friend went to check on him, and he was in a bad state. They got him in the car and took him to a local hotel. He has been there now for two months thanks to the generous contributors on this fundraiser and the early donations we received when he first arrived at the hotel.

Another friend has helped JT obtain his birth certificate from Alabama, an ID card and his Social Security Card. He has recently been accepted into the low income housing apartment in Crestview opening in April or May. He realizes he can’t be in the elements anymore with the change in his health, and he wants to have a roof over his head.

We don’t know how long it will take to get him housing, so we are trying to raise more money for him to be able to stay in the hotel. JT is loved by so many people, and his stories always bring smiles to everyone’s faces. We are praying he can get in a permanent housing situation and appreciate any help from the community.
