Kensley's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
This week, we received the heart-wrenching news that my 12-year-old niece, Kensley, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after doctors discovered a large tumor in her abdomen that had likely been growing for years.

At Vanderbilt, she underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor. Which was a success, however, due to the nature of the cancer surgery couldn't remove all of it. She will likely need intensive follow-up care.

It was just last month when Kensley celebrated her twelfth birthday and eagerly anticipated starting the 7th grade on Monday. She had been looking forward to playing her violin in the school band, reconnecting with her best friends, and making new ones.

Her biggest worry was choosing her back-to-school outfit and wondering what new experiences 7th grade would bring.

But on July 30th, 2024, her childhood was abruptly altered. Her world was turned upside down, and she now faces challenges that no child her age should have to endure.

Her nine-year-old little brother, Peter, will now feel the weight of a responsibility that can never be lifted. And the joys of her school life and friendships overshadowed by a struggle far beyond her years.

Despite this, Kensley’s spirit remains unbroken. She has always been a fighter, never letting adversity keep her down. Her curiosity and zest for life shine through in her love for art—whether drawing, sketching, or painting.

Or on the softball field, where she was one of the strongest hitters on the team. And her musical journey with the violin, though just beginning, it all reflects her boundless talent and determination.

Kensley is resolute in her fight against this illness. She is determined not to let cancer completely steal her childhood.

Her journey ahead will be difficult and filled with the harsh realities of cancer recovery, but Kensley’s resilience will see her through.

And with your compassionate support, we can help make this challenging journey a bit easier. All funds raised through this account will go directly towards supporting her through her recovery.

Thank you for your kindness and prayers during this incredibly tough time for our family.
