Join Mara Tavanello's Fight Against Cancer

My co-worker and friend, Mark Tavanello seems to know everyone. And, he helps anyone in need. Now it’s our turn to help him - and more importantly, help his daughter. On September 6, it was confirmed that his baby girl, Mara Faith Tavanello, age 11, has Stage 3 osteosarcoma, a bone cancer typically found in children. She began treatment at Akron Children’s Hospital immediately. She has completed her first chemo and is now back at home. However, she has a long road of treatments ahead of her. The tumor is located in her right femur bone and thankfully hasn’t metastasized anywhere else. It has though destroyed 50% of her femur. In addition to months of grueling chemotherapy, Mara is also facing surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. This is life-changing for Mara. She has always loved sports and been very active. She will now face a lifetime of challenges and ailments. Any money raised will be used for expenses for Mara for now or as needed in her future.
