Join Meghan's Mission for Clean Water

Hi! My name is Meghan Souers and I’m a freshman at Boston College and a member of BC’s charity: water section. Together, we support charity: water, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing clean, safe drinking water to communities in need. Right now, 703 million people worldwide lack access to clean water. Not only does this lead to illness, but it also forces women and children to spend hours each day walking to distant water sources, stealing time they could use for education or work. Access to clean water transforms the quality of life for people, with every $1 invested in safe water and sanitation generating $4.30 in economic benefits.

To raise awareness and money for this cause, I’m taking the plunge and dunking into freezing Lake Michigan this Saturday 1/11. This dunk represents the daily struggles millions face to get water, often in unsafe and exhausting conditions. While my discomfort will be brief, for too many people this is a lifelong reality.
