Hi friends,
I’m reaching out for support, as I’ve been sick for a month and we have finally discovered I have Lyme's disease and Mono (Epstein-Barr virus). Coincidentally we found out I had (likely preexisting) anemia.
On May 13th, I had a planned surgery (under general anesthesia) for an extremely large non-cancerous fatty lipoma. The surgery went well and we thought recovery was going great. What followed seems medically unrelated to this surgery, though I was out of commission for working for almost a week.
Two weeks after surgery, I started to get sick and thought I just had a mild cold. But 12 days later (feeling about 20% sick those 12 days), I was in the ER with a high fever extreme body pain, and rashes. After another week or so, and another visit to the ER to explore if I had blood clots from the surgery - which I didn’t’ - we discovered I had Epstein Barr Virus, which relates to mono. A few days later, we also had Lyme's test come back positive.
There’s been tons of loving support for helping take care of Anjali, bring us groceries, and help clean our house. The silver lining in all of this is how generous SO many people have been with their time.
We have good support from our great MD to holistic practitioners. We are using a multifaceted approach to treat all the different issues. We are using antibiotics, homeopathy, herbs, essential oils, and a machine that helps with microcirculation and oxygenation of the blood for pain relief amongst other things.
However, I have been on semi-bedrest for a darn long time with poor cognitive function and lots of pain. Feeling better one day and poorer the next. Needless to say, it has been an emotional roller coaster.
The final frontier (and the elephant in the room) is that I have lost income by being unable to work while also having increased medical expenses. Luckily it’s nothing too massive in the grand scheme of things!
Many hands make light work, and with your support, I feel like I will be able to rest a little deeper and fuller knowing that our little family will weather this financially.
We will host an in-person fundraising event (sharing what we do: yoga, dance, kirtan, and such) roughly scheduled for late summer or early fall. Anyone who donates to this campaign will be welcomed to the event free of charge.
Grateful for your thoughts and prayers and if it’s in your means, even the teeniest of contributions. To all of you who have already contributed your hands and hearts to our home these last few weeks, we cannot express how healing your support has been!
