Seven year old Oliver Slater and his family urgently need your help and any donation large or small will make a real difference to this family in need.

Oliver Slater turned 7 years old on New Years Day this year and was diagnosed with bone cancer in February. We need to raise £15,000 to help with the additional costs the family will incur during his treatment and to help his family to cope with the financial strain this has put them under.

Oliver loves school, martial arts, swimming, golf & football. He supports Manchester United and since being in hospital has really missed being with his sister Lily & his dog Daisy. When not out and about in the Forest, he enjoys building Lego.

Oliver started feeling unwell in October suffering from severe leg pain. His GP initailly thought it was shin splints but after several visits to the GP he was finally referred to the hospital. He went into Birmingham Children’s Hospital at the beginning of November and was diagnosed with a bone infection. Despite the best efforts of his doctors, they could not get the infection under control.

Since November Oliver has spent just 3 nights at home celebrating both Christmas and his birthday in hospital. In January, with the infection still not under control, Oliver was referred to a further specialist, who diagnosed bone cancer.

Oliver has a long road ahead of him now with this new diagnosis. He has started on chemotherapy, and been told that future surgery is inevitable and may likely include a thigh bone and hip replacement.

Oliver’s parents, Laura & Shaun, have been by his side night and day in Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a long way from his home in Ross on Wye. This has meant taking a lot of time off work to be there for him and adding further financial burden and worry.

We are asking you to donate now so that Oliver and his family don't have the added worry of finances whilst they cannot work, and so that when treatment is over they can go on a much needed family holiday together. Due to his condition, the house may need some adaptation to allow him to live downstairs, as he cannot weight bear on his leg, and is using a wheelchair.

Thank you so much for reading Oliver’s story and thank you in advance for anything you can donate.
