Join Randy's Battle Against Blood Cancer

Donation protected
My friend Randy has been fighting multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, since November 5, 2022. He's undergone chemo as bravely as anyone could expect, but in February and March of this year, he was admitted to the hospital 4 times for infections in his legs.

Since then, he's continued to get chemo, and he's worked hard at physical therapy to regain his ability to walk. But he's been unable to work for 3 months, and his savings are now gone.

He's able to work again, but he's so behind on so many bills now that he needs help getting caught up. Your donations will pay his utility bills, rent, and most importantly, his health insurance and medical bills.

The following was written by Randy's sister.

About Randy

Let me tell you more about Randy in case you don't know him:

Randy has spent his life surrounded by friends. He’s always had a dollar to lend, even when he couldn’t afford it. He’s always got thoughtful and loving advice to give, even when he’s struggling. He always has a couch (or a spare bedroom) for anyone needing a safe place to land.

Randy is a proud father to Maddie and Mary, a dedicated and loyal friend, a dog-lover, a voracious reader, and nobody’s enemy. He's embarrassed that his family is asking for money to help him out. He's always been fiercely independent and proud, but he needs help.

It’s hard to pinpoint why, but people have always been drawn to my brother. If you’ve ever spent any time with Randy, you understand. I had to break out the thesaurus to come up with a word that accurately describes him – that word is “gregarious.” My brother has always been there for anyone and everyone who needed him, and he’d literally give you the couch he was sitting on if you asked for it.

About Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma is a cancer of the blood, specifically in the plasma cells. A healthy person’s plasma cells help fight infections by producing antibodies that identify and attack germs. Patients with multiple myeloma build up cancerous plasma cells that prevent healthy immune cells from forming. Multiple myeloma typically damages the immune system, the bones, and the kidneys.

The combination of multiple myeloma and chemo treatment has left him unable to fight infections, which is how he wound up in the hospital 4 times over the course of 6 weeks earlier this year.

Why Randy Needs Help

Randy’s business is still running, and he’s able to maintain some income. Cancer and infection took away his livelihood for 3 months this year, though.

Besides falling behind on rent and utilities, Randy has fallen behind on some medical bills. The funds from this fundraiser will directly help him continue to work and continue his cancer treatments.

He has 3 roommates helping him with everyday tasks and getting him to and from his chemotherapy treatments. He also spends as much time as he can with his two daughters.

He still has books to read, dogs to pet, and the rest of his life to live.

So many Americans are just a bad blood test from catastrophe. We’re close to shielding our friend Randy from the worst parts of this disease, but we need your help.

Randy is working hard financially and healthwise. After spending his entire life trying to make his corner of the world brighter, it’s time for Randy Ray to get some help.
