Join Randy’s Fight Against Cancer

Aloha Family & Friends,

I am writing to you on behalf of my brother-in-law Randy Lawrence.
Randy has been in our lives since May of 2002, as my older sister Chelsea’s high school sweetheart. His kind spirit and sense of humor made him quickly a brother to my other siblings and I. Chelsea & Randy married in August 2012 after 10 years of dating and have spent a total of 19 years together! Now that’s a love story that is truly inspiring. They have created such a beautiful life together, sharing two active and adventurous children, Khairah (10) and Kyryn (8) Lawrence.

Randy is the type of person who will do anything to help another. He’s always the first one there when you need a hand or to crack a joke just in the knick of time to make you smile. His patience in every situation is simply astounding, and his ability to see the good, is really what sets him apart. Everyone that knows him can attest to his work ethic. Often working overtime or answering calls at any hour, just to help. But his passion has always been family. He always puts my sister and their kids first. Filling any time off with activities that they love to do.  He has truly brought so much love and laughter to our lives and is so important to so many people.

On March 26, 2021 a biopsy confirmed the presence of cancer within Randy’s liver. He was then referred to an Oncologist at the Queens Medical Center on Oahu where he underwent multiple tests to try to further diagnose the origin and staging of his cancer. These tests led his doctors to a probable diagnosis of Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma or Cancer of the Bile Duct. Early scans showed that the cancer was localized in Randy’s liver, making him a candidate for surgical removal. So on June 10, 2021 Randy endured a 4 hour liver resection surgery in efforts to remove the cancer. Unfortunately, while in surgery, a second 40 mm mass was found attached to Randys small intestine. This, combined with the pathology results of the removed masses confirmed that Randy’s cancer is more advanced than initially thought, and would now be defined as Stage IV - Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The next steps for Randy will include recovering from this surgery and then onto 8 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and possibly radiation.

Since the onset of this ordeal Chelsea and Randy have had to travel back and forth to Oahu numerous times, taking them both away from their children and ultimately out of work. With bills and medical expenses quickly adding up, this go fund me is crucial in providing much needed support during this difficult time.  All proceeds will go directly to Randy and will help to relieve any financial distress he may feel, so that he may focus primarily on his health. Any amount is greatly appreciated, no donation is too small in this fight. If you are unable to contribute financially, we kindly ask for support by sharing this campaign. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. We know that our God is good— and that He is a God of miracles so we ask that you join Randy in this fight against cancer.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
