**DAILY UPDATES**
5:19/24—2:57PM: Rosie made it out of surgery and is currently recovering at Banfield Pet Hospital. She had an emergency full hysterectomy of the uterus and ovaries to remove the pus-filled uterus before it ruptured. Sadly the sepsis had already started, her protein levels are low, and white blood cell count is high. Now it’s a matter of allowing her body to recover at home and for her to fight to sepsis. She will be heading home around 6:45PM tonight to relax as much as she can before heading back to Banfield early tomorrow morning for more tests.

5/19/24—7:55AM: Rosie slept through the night and is now on the way to Banfield Pet Hospital for emergency surgery. Wish her luck!

5/18/24—8:10PM: Rosie is resting at home to heal as much as possible before surgery at 8AM

Meet Rosie

My sweet girl without a mean bone in her body. She loves to sleep, be involved in all of our outings, cuddle and sure does enjoy playing with stuffed animals. She truly is my best bud. Anyone who has ever met Rosie knows that she is a sweetheart. Throughout the 6 years that she’s been with me since she was a puppy, she has shown me nothing but unconditional love, affection and a lot of patience.

Sadly, she hasn’t been feeling well the past few days. Fast forward to this morning (May 18th @ 11AM) when she took a turn for the worse and we rushed her to Banfield Pet Hospital in San Francisco as an emergency. Unfortunately, the vet diagnosed her with Pyometra (I will add details below pertaining to Rosie’s condition) and if i don’t act fast, it could be fatal.
  • Due to it being urgent, they suggested for us to bring her to emergency at the animal hospital the very same day, but it was financially impossible. Our second option was to let her fill up on IV fluids at Banfield until they closed at 7PM, take her home and keep a close eye on her until the following morning for surgery. All we can do tonight is to keep her comfortable, minimize jumping/moving to avoid rupture, and give her all of the love that we possibly can until her surgery in the morning (May 19th @ 8AM).

Now this is where we turn to you. Any amount of donations is extremely appreciated; if you can’t donate then we ask for you to keep her in your thoughts and send all of the good juju Rosie’s way.

**DIAGNOSIS DETAILS**
Pyometra is a condition caused by the womb becoming inflamed and filling with pus and, if left untreated, it can lead to kidney failure, toxaemia, dehydration and, death. Usually the only cure once the pet has developed pyometra is emergency surgery to carefully remove the uterus and ovaries to avoid sepsis. Pyometra is one of most frequent reproductive organ disorders in female dogs, which affects on average nearly 20% of all intact female dogs before the age of 10.

Symptoms include:
  • lethargy
  • decreased apetite
  • excessive urination
  • vomiting
  • bloated abdomen
  • vaginal discharge (or blood)
  • excessive water intake
  • anorexia
  • depression
  • fever
  • pale mucous membrane
  • panting
  • diarrhea

Thank you for taking your time to read details about what’s going on. Anything helps,
much appreciated.
