Hi, my name is Kari Rivers. A circle of friends and I are fundraising for our beloved Santosh Powell, who is currently navigating a very difficult journey of cancer.

To many, he is known as a masterful yoga teacher, a trusted guide and wise counsel. To others, a dear friend, satsang brother, fellow alpine adventurer and rescuer, as well as a Pujari at Mount Madonna Institute. Santosh has influenced so many in powerful and meaningful ways that have illuminated our lives and spiritual paths, not only through his teachings, but his pure presence and example.

Santosh has spent his life in service, since I have known him, teaching from a place of direct experience that has inspired myself and so many who have been in his presence, yoga classes, workshops, immersions, pujas, and retreats. He also tenderly nurtured his mother and father for six years, until his father's death three years ago. Santosh has been a part of the Park County Search and Rescue team, since the passing of his father. He says it's the best thing his ever done.

Santosh lives in the high mountains of Colorado, an hour and a half from Denver where he visits often to teach yoga. He hand-built a beautiful temple space called Shivalaya, a reprieve and reset for people to come to commune, contemplate, meditate, and receive inner gnosis. He also has a wonderful collection of Youtube videos of his yoga classes that anyone can access and stream, and is the author of a priceless manual for yoga instruction called the The Yoga Book: A Guide to the Discovery Of Your Inner Teacher.

Despite Santosh's conscious lifestyle, in October of 2024, he found himself having to call for an ambulance due to extreme pain, which transpired into two more emergency room visits and two Urgent Care visits. His medical bills overnight became a heavy burden. He has discovered that he has a cancerous tumor that has metastasized and is progressing. No immanent diagnosis has been declared as the evaluation is ongoing, but his health situation is very serious.

Santosh has chosen to approach his present diagnosis leaning into holistic and spiritual medicinal energies. He continues to pursue clinical diagnostic evaluations. With your compassionate support, love, and donations, he will be able to pay off taxing medical bills, seek hopeful alternative approaches that have helped many in his situation.

Currently, Santosh is being held by a knowledgeable group of practitioners with varied expertise of trusted friends who practice Ayurveda, modern and functional medicine. He is being held in a circle of care by friends who are delivering food, cords of wood, and helping with needs as they arise.

I first want to express my deep gratitude for the healing journey that I embark upon with your vital support. I'm in a state of perpetual surrender to karma, and the extraordinary forces of the universe that's proposed such a significant assignment. We are so fortunate to be given tools and perspectives granted to support the many possibilities and outcomes that may be revealed. I'm humbled by the willingness and energy of your support.

Gratitude is a sweeping power that illuminates the being by drawing the heart's energy to manifest a higher order of conscious exchange. And, it heals radically by producing the energy of acceptance in even the broken parts of human frailties. It's medicine creates the tenderness necessary to invoke compassion, awareness, and forgiveness.
