Hello there,

My name is Deja. I'm pushing and fighting for my father to continue living his life to the fullest. To take his pain away and manifest a successful battle against cancer.

Cancer is never a word that I thought I put in a sentence when talking about my father. But as we all know, the unfortunate thing is, it happens whether we choose to accept it or not.

After going to a doctor's appointment to explain a constant ringing in his ears, the doctor decided to do a routine physical, including a blood test. The results showed his PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) levels were dangerously high. The normal PSA level for his age is 2-4, his being at a 12 then and 14 being his most current level. He then had to go through multiple tests from additional blood work, MRI's, CT Scans and finally, a biopsy. He was then diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in March 2022.

Though the cancer was caught early, it still covers the majority of his prostate. We are extremely blessed to know that it has yet spread to other areas of his body. However, in order to prevent the cancer from continuing to spread, he will need to go through a procedure to remove as much as possible. This procedure is quite new, can ONLY be done in Los Angeles, CA and is absolutely 100% NOT covered by his insurance. Not to mention his recovery.

It's been tough to find the words to express the love, admiration, and respect I have for my dad. He is the first person to put a smile on your face with his quick wit and ALMOST embarrassing dance moves. His passions are his family and children, sports and an active lifestyle. He is a man full of ambition, drive, and integrity. He takes every obstacle, every hardship, every bump in the road as a challenge, never giving up or quitting. My father has been the biggest blessing to our lives, and our biggest supporter. The countless football and soccer games, dance recitals, music lessons, you name it. He was cheering us on and being our number one fan. Catching us EVERY time we fall. He has worked so hard to make sure we know he loves us. And he is an outstanding grandfather to all of his grandchildren. Making sure each one of them knows they are his world too.

I am so extremely proud of my dad for being so strong through this traumatic and scary battle. The C word is never a word we want to hear when it comes to our loved ones.

Our goal is set for $50,000 as this will allow us to get him the procedure and get through recovery. As mentioned before, absolutely no piece of this massive bill is covered. It is absolutely devastating that we have to do this, and cannot cover this ourselves. It takes a village, no matter the age, to survive in this world. We appreciate any help we can get, and will be truly blessed if we can reach this goal or even get close to it. It is so important to us that we keep this man healthy so he can continue being amazing.
