Hi, my name is Silas. I’m a 4th grader in Orlando who has a passion for helping the homeless. I know what it’s like to be different and to have people bully you just because you’re struggling. I want to change that, and to let people know they are loved no matter what they are going through. I told my mom I wanted to have a “Homeless Army” of people who want to give homeless people the things they need. Like blankets, water, snacks, toiletries, and maybe even backpacks or tents or sleeping bags. I plan on gathering these items through donations from people locally in Orlando, but also I wanted to get the word out and even asked my mom if I could be interviewed on the news so more people could know about it. That’s when she had the idea of gathering donations where I could go out and purchase these things myself. I plan on delivering whatever we can get donated to local homeless shelters this summer while I’m out of school. It will be my summer project! I’m also talking to friends and family in Orlando who can donate the actual things we need and not just the money to get them.
Could you spare a few dollars? And share my idea on your social media platforms? I would be so grateful! And I promise 100% of the funds will be used to help the homeless. So let’s go, Homeless Army!
