Cianna needs your help to continue to thrive. A brilliant second-year Ph.D. student in the Paesani Lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California - San Diego, Cianna is currently recovering from a cardiac arrest that left her on CPR for 26 minutes and put her on life support machines for over four weeks which kept all her organs working until they miraculously came back to functionality. Cianna is a miracle and has so much to contribute to the world.

In November 2022 the lives of everyone who loves Cianna were turned upside down. She collapsed in her graduate housing apartment and was rushed to the emergency department after being unconscious for up to a day. We thought we lost her but after months of world-class treatment at the University of California - San Diego Jacobs Medical Center, she is now in the next phase of her difficult recovery, working incredibly hard to be able to walk and use her hands again.

To help Cianna in returning to her life as a talented Ph.D. student who will make a significant impact on the world, we would like to raise enough funds to cover the cost of her physical therapy, and advanced medical treatment needs that will enable her to regain full mobility in her hands, legs, and feet. Additionally, Cianna will require at-home nursing care services.
