Hi friends!

As you may have heard, our friend and loved one Jared Hill experienced a traumatic accident last Monday, February 12th at the beach in Tulum. He was caught in a wave that broke his neck in multiple places leaving him with limited movement of his arms and legs.

Due to nothing short of heroic efforts by his partner Raif, and Jared’s ability to remain calm, he was able to be transported by the Red Cross to a medical facility for emergency care in Mexico. On Valentine's Day Jared received a life-saving, 12-hour operation to fuse his spine and stabilize his condition.

Thanks to the tenacity of doctors, friends, and family, and after 7 days of intensive care, Jared was successfully medically evacuated from Mexico to the U.S. He is currently at Houston Hermann Memorial in the neuro ICU, receiving the best care possible as he prepares for another surgery once his body is stable enough. He’s made progress already, having gone from immobile to taking his first (assisted) steps in two weeks. He was also able to sit up to watch RuPaul’s drag race and get his nails painted! He is still mostly unable to use his hands and feet and is facing life changing effects and months of rehabilitation and hard work ahead.

Jared has a positive attitude about his recovery and he’s been staying focused with PT. In Jared fashion, he is already talking about a training plan to run a marathon. While it’s been small steps, we are all super proud of how much progress he has made- and it’s in part due to the messages of support from all his loved ones, so please continue to send your words of encouragement and love!

Though his progress is miraculous, Jared still has a long recovery ahead of him. With new details emerging daily about what is needed, we wanted this Go Fund Me to be a central place for everybody who loves Jared to join his support team and share encouragement that uplifts him on this journey of recovery and healing.

Additionally, while the full cost of care cannot be fully calculated yet, we do know it will be high for Jared with a lengthy recovery of surgeries and physical rehabilitation ahead. So we are asking for your help by contributing whatever financial contribution you can to go towards Jared’s recovery. Any financial gift you give here will first go to alleviate the burden of Jared’s medical costs and recovery. The current amount is set based on his estimated current costs.

Jared can currently receive cards by sending them to Raif’s hotel room. Reach out for the address. Mailing items directly to the hospital may not make it as the hospital is quite large, so please send to Raif reach out to coordinate an address and we will get them to him.
