Join the Fight: Amanda's Breast Cancer Battle

Hi, my name is Erin, but this isn't about me... This is about my best friend of 25+ years. This is about a single mother, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a friend, a woman and a warrior. This is about Amanda.

Amanda has faced so many battles in the past few years, from almost losing her son to an undiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes episode and navigating a new life managing his care, profound losses of immediate family members, her daughter navigating prolonged health struggles after Covid and now she is taking on the largest most important battle of her life: Breast Cancer.

After multiple doctor appointments, on Tuesday, August 8th MD Anderson confirmed Amanda has Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She has 1 tumor in her right breast and 18 lymph nodes affected from her armpit to her collarbone.

What does this mean? It means she starts Phase I of Chemotherapy + Immunotherapy on 08/22, 1x week for 12 weeks. She then will have a small break before starting Phase II, Chemo every 3 weeks, 4 treatments. Amanda will then undergo surgery for either a double mastectomy or lumpectomy and then start Radiation every day Mon-Fri for 6 weeks. This is a very aggressive Cancer, so she will have very aggressive treatments.

There are so many people asking what they can do to help, and while the family appreciates EVERYTHING people are offering, right now the financial burden is weighing heavy. She is a single Mom and has exhausted her PTO to care for her children's health issues. Anything you can offer to help alleviate the stress of making sure bills are paid in full on time is a huge contribution to her care. By her family, friends, co-workers, and yes even complete strangers, coming together to help meet this need, Amanda will be able to focus on her treatments, resting, healing and using her energy toward Kicking Cancer's ASS!
