Some of you have been following Cobain’s story since the beginning; many more of you became aware of his story within the recent weeks. Almost all of you have expressed the desire to see justice done and bring awareness to the ever-ongoing issue of rampant abuse in the equestrian world and more specifically the show world:
This fund has been created with the purpose of paying for legal fees accrued while fighting the lawsuit filed by Shannon Eckel and Hat Trick Sport Horses LLC against, but not limited to, Despina Pakidis and Jessica Stringer. All defendants have been contacted and notified of plans moving forward. Some have chosen to NOT work with our group. Please note that there are individuals who have expressed that they are not interested in our plans or wish to ignore the suit all together. Therefore these funds will not be used to represent those individuals.
We hope that through the lawsuit, this case receives even more visibility and Cobain will be closer to receiving the justice he deserves. We also hope that this will not end with Cobain but that he will serve as the mechanism that FINALLY tells the industry that enough is enough. Cobain's legacy should usher in a new era; an era where we no longer stand for the barbaric treatment of horses at the hands of riders or ‘trainers’ no matter what their connections are. We have hope that with the help of an amazing legal team, this could turn into something much bigger than a defamation lawsuit. This is only the beginning. Cobain and many others connected with this case have been denied justice for 4 years. We believe it’s finally the right time to see this through to the end and then beyond.

*All funds collected that are not used for expenses associated with the litigation process will be donated to an equine charity of the donors choosing, a non-profit whose mission aligns with the spirit of our desires. We will share details of how we are going to make this happen once we know the amount that will be donated.
