Join the Fight for Evan Holyfield's Heart!

Hello All, my name is Toi and as the mother of Evan, I share this news with a heavy heart. Evan has been boxing since he was a little boy and made his professional debut on November 2, 2019. His current record is 11 wins, 1 loss. He has always trained to his fullest potential however, as he was preparing for a fight scheduled on August 4, 2023, he was experiencing shortness of breath, vomiting, and chest pain. Initially, like many young athletes may do, he thought it was something minor and decided to try and push through it, without success. After multiple hospital visits and several doctor evaluations, it was discovered he has an extremely rare heart condition. This condition has gotten worse through the years, unbeknownst and to the shock of us all. This condition affects his energy level, stamina and oxygen levels and it causes chest pain, shortness of breath or sudden cardiac failure. Doctors have determined he requires open-heart surgery. He is scheduled for surgery September 21, 2023.

Evan will turn 26 years old this October and age-out of his current health insurance. In professional boxing, there aren’t any company medical coverage plans, 401Ks, family medical leave programs, sick pay, pensions, etc. to cover unforeseen medical bills. With that said, since he is still so young in his career and has not accumulated enough revenue to rely on, in case of emergencies, we are humbly asking for donations to pay for 6 months+ recovery appointments, physical therapy, and day-to-day living expenses. During this recovery period, he will not be allowed to box and create income to take care of necessities, in conjunction with paying for out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Evan has decided to document his journey of recovery to bring additional awareness to young boxers and other athletes about their heart health. We, in advance, graciously thank you and welcome any donation to help offset his medical debt and other costs associated with his recovery. We remain prayerful and confident Evan will recover and for the first time in his life, have a fully functional heart. Evan possesses a heart of a champion and is eager to return to the ring to be a beacon and a staunch advocate for heart health.

Please extend your prayers, light, and healing thoughts, as we pray God’s Will be done as He guides the hands, thoughts, and actions of the doctors and medical staff overseeing Evan’s medical care.

Again, a sincere thank you for your kind acts of love.
