On December 10, 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called a Chordoma. About 30% of chordomas form within the center of the head in the skull base – usually in a bone called the clivus. This is where my tumor was located, next to the brainstem and wrapping my carotid and 5th/6th nerve in my eye, causing double vision.
Since being diagnosed with this 1 in a million type of cancer, I've had 3 surgeries and 38 rounds of Proton Beam Radiation. I've traveled to Pittsburgh, Boston and Maryland for multiple surgeries, treatments, and for the Rare Tumor Research Study through the NIH.
On November 13, 2024 I received the unfortunate news that my cancer is back for a 3rd time. I will be joining a clinical trial study for an immunotherapy drug called Cetuximab. I will be required to fly to Texas twice a month for infusions. I am seeking help with costs for transportation, lodging and food.
Over the years, I've learned that I may be one in a million, but I'm not alone. The love and support that I've received has been incredible. Thank you all for showing me support and encouraging my fight. I wouldn't be here without you all.
