In October 2021, a month before her 25th birthday, Madeleine felt a lump on her right breast which unfortunately, after several tests, and an excision biopsy, doctors diagnosed her of having stage two, invasive carcinoma. We are all in shock, yet to fully digest the gut wrenching diagnosis of breast cancer for Madeleine at age 25. This news has come as shock to Madeleine and shaken her friends and Family to the core. Unfortunately, there is no treatment centre for cancer in the country she lives (The Gambia),
As family and as friends, we have a painful tragedy linked to our unreserved commitment to help save Madeline’s life. In 2017, we lost a close family members and dear friends to this hideous disease, in the same hospital in Dakar to which Madeleine has now been referred. This is why we have made it our mission to do whatever we can to save her live.
The recommendation by doctors in the Gambia is for Madeleine to go abroad for treatment. We have contacted treatment centres abroad and our goal is to raise 65,000 USD medical bill to help Madeleine fight cancer. Mado, as she fondly known by family and friends has already depleted her savings paying for numerous exorbitant amounts for tests, scans and surgery; This is one of the reasons as to why as friend and family, we have come together to drum support to give madeleine the chance to have her cancer treated so that she can fulfil her dreams as a young woman.
Madeleine, is a nurse by profession, who has selflessly dedicated her life to serving humanity, always giving so much of herself in the care of others and now fighting for her own life. We hope you will stand by us in this difficult time and make a contribution towards this effort. We are grateful to every kind donor that chooses to contribute to her recovery. Any and all donations are greatly be appreciated, and will certainly help in our commitment to raise at least $45,000 to help save Madeline’s life.
The funds you’ll help in raising will help in the following:
• Pay for out of pocket medical costs, her daily expenses and hospital bills
• Help mado to fully concentrate on her recovery and much needed rest after adverse effects that come with chemotherapy
• Help her family facilitate swift treatment abroad including travelling expenses
• Help madeleine get a reconstruction surgery that will be crucial for her mental health.
Please be involved either through donating or sharing to help give this caring nurse the opportunity to go through this so that she could continue to the heart-warming care she gives to her cherished patients.
Thank you, we’ll keep you updated.
