Join the fight to save Ferrum Park

We need your help!

Friends of Ferrum Park has been working for the last year and a half to save an 84-acre parcel in the temperate-rainforest region of the Blue Ridge Mountains from being logged and destroyed. We are in the process of purchasing it to turn into a nature park and public space for our community. Our town currently has no public amenities at all- no park, no picnic areas, not even a public bench to sit on.

Our county has refused to fund any improvements to our area that would improve our community's quality of life. Currently, Franklin County owns the 82.16 acre and 1.5 acre parcels we are trying to save. The Board of Supervisors set their price at $250,000 and refused to negotiate further, threatening to put the property on the open market and risk losing it forever if we did not respond within 5 days of their offer.

Our nonprofit decided to do everything we could to protect this space and give our community a much-needed place to call its own.

We humbly ask for your help to protect this amazing wildlife habitat and support an amazing rural community that is deeply rooted in Appalachian history and culture.
