Join Us to Help the Shoemakers:Aid Sarah in Caring for Chris
Donation protected
Sarah Shoemaker's husband, Chris, has been facing ongoing health struggles and has recently experienced several episodes of passing out related to his low-functioning heart. Last night, Sarah had to take Chris to the emergency room due to congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy which led to his kidneys beginning to fail. He has been admitted to the ICU and will remain there for several days. He was placed on a breathing machine, but he was fortunately taken off this morning.
In addition to the stress of his medical condition, Chris has not been able to work since July. With their oldest daughter in college, their next son heading to college in the fall, and their youngest son still at home, this is a challenging time for their family. Sarah continues to work and has PTO available, but she will need to utilize much of it to care for Chris during his recovery.
Because of this we'd like to help the family with medical costs and try to raise their max-out-of-pocket deductible to alleviate that stress for them. For their insurance plan, the max-out-of-pocket for the family is $12,000 a year, plus we'd like to give them a little extra cushion to help with the other expenses that come up along the way when you're taking care of someone who's in the hospital. We hope you will consider helping out our friends, the Shoemakers, during this difficult time.
This fundraiser is being organized on Sarah's behalf, and 100% of the donation will go directly to her to help cover medical expenses, daily needs, and anything else the family may need while Chris is in the hospital and recovering. None of the funds will go to me personally- I'm just helping to get the word out and help support Sarah and her family.
