Time stands still for my best friend Aja Hicks today as her husband Steve was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer, Metastatic Stage 4.

Hodgkin's Lymphoma is a Cancer of the part of the immune system called the lymphatic system. As the cancer progresses, it limits the body's ability to fight infection. In addition, Steve’s bacteria culture for the wound in his sternum has come back with Corynebacterium Striatum. He’s now considered septic, with a very high white blood cell count. He has been in the hospital for 9 days. He has multiple doctors/specialists/surgeons working with him.

Steve had surgery to remove a lymph node and had to go back in surgery again after he developed a complication resulting in a hematoma.

The journey for Steve’s fight against cancer has just begun. This is a life long battle and they are believing moment by moment.

Steve and Aja have been married since 10/15/2004. She met Steve when she was 19, he was 21. They have been together since the day they met. Next October they will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. They are the most loving couple I have ever met. They have 4 beautiful children, 2 boys and 2 girls, Brea-14, Aven-10, Garin-11, and Kasyn-12.

Steve is what you call “The Bravehearted Man”. He is a devoted Christian who loves his family soo much!! He is always there for his family and works many hours every day making sure his family is cared for in every way. In addition, Steve enjoys serving the community and his church family with countless hours & generous giving. He has his own construction business/self-employed with his talent and ability in renovating hotels, commercial finish-outs, and residential remodeling. Steve is the sole provider for his family. The doctors told him yesterday that he will not be able to work for a year while he fights for his life to undergo chemotherapy with many treatments and surgeries.

Each moment is so powerful and this diagnosis has given us all a NEW PERSPECTIVE on LIFE! Life is so precious and it now seems to be standing still for this beautiful family while Steve begins his fight against cancer.

Since Steve will not be able to work, they will not have the funds to provide for their family while he is fighting for his life. Aja (his wife) is back and forth from the hospital, meeting with doctors and caring for her husband then heading home to be a strong mother to her 4 children. She is making sure the kids stay on the same schedule with school, activities, youth group, and friends to keep life moving as normal as possible for stability.

Isaiah 38:16 says: Those live whom the LORD protects; yours is the life of my spirit. You have given me health and restored my life!

We know that God has the perfect plan and we know God is a God that heals!

Please stand with me and The Hicks Family in prayer to believe for Miracles in healing for Steve’s cancer.
