Hello, my name is Brittany, and I am a dear friend to the Woodward family. As several of you understand, to know the Woodwards is to automatically love them. Many of you know Tony, as he has devoted his adult life to his law enforcement career serving the Spartanburg community for decades. Tony was a graduate of Dorman High School where he later studied at the University of South Carolina, Spartanburg Campus. Tony worked as an officer for Spartanburg City, Spartanburg County, and currently serves as a Corporal for Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. His lovely wife, Jennifer, also works at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. I add this to describe the passion this family has for helping members of their community every day of their lives.
This is particularly important to mention as it is extremely difficult for most of us to request help from those we love. The Woodward’s have shared with their closest family and friends that Tony was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth/jaw in 2023. These same family and friends began to celebrate this year when Tony was informed his cancer was in remission. Unfortunately, the celebration was short-lived. Tony has now been diagnosed with cancer of the tongue. He now faces more surgery, medications, and the unknown. His surgery date has been scheduled for October 29th. Although he attempts to still be that hero, we all know and love, you can't help but imagine the strain this has placed on him and his family.
I am asking for all of those that know Tony and his beautiful family to keep each of them in your thoughts and prayers. If you can provide any monetary contribution to the long road of the unknown, he and his family have in front of them, it is more appreciated than you know. Tony is not one to ask for help and I will get a good chewing over this; however, we need to come together and show him the love and support that he has provided to so many of us. His smile is contagious, his belly laugh brings joy to the ears that hear it, and his love is unconditional. He and his family deserve to have some of the burden removed from their shoulders. Are you able to help me lighten the load?
