UPDATE: Janet Lowry’s Brave Battle with Cancer has entered a new phase, she is on hospice care.
With immense gratitude, Janet would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to everyone who has stood by her side during this incredibly challenging journey. Your love, prayers, and unwavering support have been the light that guided her through some of the darkest times. For seven long years, Janet fought with extraordinary courage against cancer. She endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, facing each treatment with the same resilience and grace that she has always shown in her life. Even as the treatments took their toll, she continued to pour her heart into the things she loves most: her students, her family, and her community. Janet has always been a beacon of strength, not just for her loved ones, but for everyone whose lives she touched. As an educator, she dedicated herself tirelessly to her students, never allowing her illness to diminish her commitment to their growth and success. At home, she remained the steadfast anchor of her family, offering love and guidance despite her own struggles. In her community, Janet was a constant source of compassion and support, always putting others before herself. But now, after years of enduring the grueling effects of chemotherapy, the treatments have begun to do more harm than good. With her characteristic strength and clarity, Janet has made the brave decision to stop the treatments and has transitioned to hospice care. This decision was not made lightly, but it was made with the same grace and wisdom that have guided her throughout her life. As Janet enters this new phase of her journey, her family is focused on making her as comfortable as possible, cherishing every moment they have with her. While Janet’s spirit remains indomitable, the financial burden of her medical care continues to grow. Hospice care, along with the many costs associated with end-of-life care, has placed an immense strain on her family. This is where we, her extended community, can make a difference. We are reaching out to ask for your help in easing this burden. Your donations will go directly towards covering the costs of Janet’s care, ensuring that she can spend her remaining time in peace and comfort, surrounded by the love and support she has given so freely to others. Janet has given so much of herself to those around her, and now it’s our turn to give back. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others who may be able to help. Janet’s journey has been one of immense courage, unwavering love, and incredible generosity. Let’s come together to honor that journey and support her in this final chapter. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of Janet’s life and for helping to make this time as peaceful as possible for her and her family. With love and gratitude, Sara and Monica childhood friends (this update was written with Janet Osse Lowry)
Our names are Sara and Monica and we are childhood friends of Janet (Osse) Lowry. Aware of the staggering and ongoing medical costs and recognizing the toll these take on a family, we are stepping in to do what Janet would never do for herself, launching this GoFundMe.
Janet known by many; is a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, dedicated teacher, treasured friend, active community member and a 29 year supporter and fan of the Columbine Highschool Football program.
Her journey with breast cancer has been long and arduous. Facing the relentless challenge of metastatic breast cancer, Janet always exemplifies unparalleled strength and resilience. Despite the overwhelming burden, she has never asked anyone for emotional, physical, or financial support, focusing instead on giving her all to her family, students, and community.
So, let's come together to support Janet, a remarkable woman who has given so much to each of us, and help lighten the load she (along with her family) carries so bravely.
Love,
Sara and Monica
