Join Us in Jenna Raabe's Path to Recovery

Hello to all those reading this.

On May 31st, 2024, my wife, Jenna Raabe, 43 years old and the mother of our 5-year-old son Teddy, unexpectedly suffered a major stroke while helping out with a graduation party at the preschool our son attended. Fortunately, the teachers were taught to recognize the signs and symptoms of a stroke and took immediate action by dialing 911 for an ambulance, which probably saved her life. So, shout out to the teachers and first responders.

As many of you may already know, Jenna is an Archeologist and is passionate about her job, and protecting resources. She says it’s the only job she’s ever had that she wakes up in the morning excited for the day ahead. It comes with profound sadness that she’s not going back to work in the near foreseeable future. We’re all hoping and praying she makes a full recovery but there’s a long road ahead, the doctors say there’s a chance she doesn’t make a full recovery. As of today, as I write this, she’s been in St Charles Hospital in Bend, OR for over 45 days. She’s stable and ready for the next phase in her recovery, however, it’s been an uphill battle with insurance and finding a rehabilitation center. Her strength and resilience are truly inspirational. Jenna is making some progress in her recovery cognitively; she has feeling on the left side of her body but there is still little to no movement on the left side because the stroke has caused damage to the Neuro pathways that communicate with that side of her body. We’re optimistic that she will walk again with the proper rehab, hard work, and support from friends and family.

We live in a semi-remote area where our health insurance limits our options as to where Jenna can get the care she needs and still be close to family and friends. So, the goal of this fundraiser is to help support us through this transition until we can apply for some financial assistance. We would use the funds to pay for travel expenses, groceries, utility bills, and maybe rent an RV space close to the rehab facility, so our son and I can be by Jenna’s side during the recovery process. Please help support us through this difficult time and consider contributing to our fundraiser, or share with others who may be able to help.
