Starting college is an exciting time - meeting new people, exploring clubs, and adjusting to a whole new environment. However, as the semester rolls on, the pressure of balancing academics, extracurricular activities, and your personal life can start to feel overwhelming. This constant pressure to excel can take a serious toll on mental health, quickly turning excitement into anxiety. Many students face sleepless nights studying for an exam while carrying the weight of family expectations. Often, when the topic of stress comes up, it is brushed aside as ‘something everyone goes through.’ The reality is, minimizing those struggles can exacerbate feelings of stress and hopelessness, leaving students with feelings of inadequacy and isolation.

Our goal is to bring awareness and support through increased mental health education on our campus and beyond. The Mental Health Collaborative is a 501c organization that provides programs to help decrease the stigma behind mental health. The organization provides various training and educational opportunities for educators, community groups and business leaders.

We invite you to join us in supporting the mission of MHC. With your support we can continue our efforts to de-stigmatize the topic of mental health within our community at large. Most people in this country have never received any mental health education, resulting in fewer than 50% of adolescents being able to properly recognize depression (Sampaio et al., 2022). By providing educational awareness to help create communities where people can be open and aware of the importance of education, how to recognize the signs, and signal for appropriate help.
