CT Flood -Join Us in Rebuilding Boars Nest and Community

On Sunday August 18th 2024 a massive flood happened in our small town of Oxford, CT. What was normally a calm and idyllic “little river” turned into a raging torrent that claimed businesses, homes, vehicles and worst of all lives.

The Boars Nest / Oxford Axe Throwing was one of the unfortunate victims of the flood. For the past 5 years the owners have put all of their time, money and energy into the business, growing it from a simple byob axe club into a restaurant and full bar with a gorgeous patio to support local music. As the flood waters starting rising the patio fence was the first to go sending all the patio furniture, picnic tables, fire pits, cornhole boards, outdoor games, the patio bricks and finally the brand new stage that was just built complete with electrical and lighting rushing down the river and being smashed to pieces.

Once the safety of the patio fence was gone the water blew through breaking the garage door and rushed into the bar. The force and speed of the water blew windows out, broke doors, flipped and fried all of the bar coolers, kegerators, dish washer, inventory and the brand new POS system that inconveniently lost its warranty a month earlier. Saturated our camera wiring, sound system, iPads and electrical. Completely destroyed the plumbing, walls, Sheetrock and the 6 month old flooring throughout the building. Finally after trying to hang on as long as it could, the year old kitchen trailer including the fryers, oven, flat top, refrigerator, freezer and stock was wiped out.

The flood did $250,000 in damage to this business. It was not a flood zone so no one had flood insurance. The state gave them a little money but it was taxed heavily and FEMA is not available for businesses. We love serving this amazing community and wish to continue for many years to come and are so grateful for every cent that has been donated. All funds raised are transferred directly to Oxford Axe Throwing where they will used to rebuild everything that was lost. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
