Dear My Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart to share the story of our incredible mom, Elaine Gilmore, who has been bravely battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She is not only a loving mother but also a devoted friend, sister, and pillar of strength for everyone who knows her. Throughout her life, she has always been one to help others, offering a listening ear, a warm hug, or a home-cooked meal to anyone in need. And dang, she can cook!
Now, she needs our help…
About 17 years ago, her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our mother tried to shield her children from knowing the diagnosis, believing it would be a burden on our lives, not wanting to take us away from our children, families, or friends. She kept this quiet; however, she was there for us whenever we needed her to be. We had very little knowledge of her diagnosis until recently.
Since the beginning of all this, she has endured treatments, radiation sessions, surgeries, and hospital stays. This last bout of cancer has involved multiple painful debridements to clear infections from her chest, followed up with a skin graft from her thigh. While she fought through that, she was diagnosed with C. Diff. The C. Diff. infection was suddenly severe, and the unknown had us thinking she was going to be with the Lord sooner than we all could ever imagine. Within the last couple of weeks, she has pulled through, and despite the physical and emotional toll, she remains incredibly strong and determined to fight this battle with everything she has.
Unfortunately, as many of you know, the cost of her treatments, surgeries, and having to relocate her home from Tennessee to New Jersey for the medical care she needs is overwhelming and adding up fast. There are many additional expenses, treatments, medications, travel to medical facilities, and everyday living costs. As her condition has progressed, the financial strain has become more than we can handle alone.
This is why we are humbly reaching out for your support. We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical expenses and provide some relief from the financial burdens that come with this fight. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping my mom continue her treatments and focus on what truly matters—her health and well-being.
We know that times are tough for everyone, and not everyone may be in a position to donate. If you are unable to contribute financially, we would be grateful if you could share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Your prayers, positive thoughts, and messages of encouragement mean the world to us and give us the strength to keep pushing forward.
My mom has always been a fighter, and with your love and support, we believe she can continue this battle with hope in her heart. We are forever grateful for any help you can provide during this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and compassion.
With love and gratitude,
Leighanne, Kyle, and Dominique
P.S.
Mom,
You never had to do this alone. You are not a burden; you are the best mother anyone could be, with or without this nasty disease.
It takes an army, and we are all here for you now.
Love,
All of Us
