Help us in supporting the Krause family through their difficult time.

One and a half years ago, Leah was rushed to the hospital with heart issues where she ended up needing surgery to repair an aortic dissection. Leah went through an extensive eight-hour surgery and was able to fight really hard to get home as quickly as possible. It was then discovered she had a genetic condition, called Loeys-Dietz syndrome that causes weakened arteries. Both her mother and her brother passed from the same condition, prior to the discovery of the disease. She has been back in the hospital every few months with issues related to her heart condition. On January 18, 2024, Leah was urgently brought to Wausau Hospital, where she underwent brain scans. The results revealed the presence of a brain aneurysm. The doctors determined she needed to be sent by life flight to Madison due to reoccurring seizures and the brain bleed. Leah has been at the Madison hospital since, where she underwent surgery to remove a portion of her skull to help alleviate pressure. Meetings with doctors and specialists over the next week and a half determined that the damage was extensive from the aneurysm. Scans of her heart revealed damage that would not be repairable due to her weakened state.

With family and loved ones by her side, Leah passed just after 5:00pm 1/28/24. The Krause family has been met with and overcome many obstacles over the past two years, including the passing of her father-in-law as well as her own father, both within the past two months.

Anybody that knows the Krause family knows what big hearts they have, and they would do anything to help someone they love. We would like to show our support in helping to alleviate some of the burden in regard to funeral costs as well as the extensive medical bills.
