Many of you know the Hudson family – Lisa and Wayne, and their three kids Josh, Kristi and Bekah. Lisa was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in November 2018 at the age of 54. For those who are not aware, ALS is an incurable neuro-degenerative disease, whereby nerve cells begin breaking down, resulting in progressive muscle weakness to the point of total incapacitation. The average life span for ALS patients from onset of symptoms is 2-5 years. Lisa has a form of ALS called “familia,” which is genetic by nature. Her mother and aunt both passed away at a young age because of this terrible disease. Familia ALS is only 10% of all ALS and is a faster progressing form. There is a critical need for both prayer and financial support as they seek God’s direction in how to move forward with medical consultations and treatments.
Wayne and Lisa attended an ALS conference in Salt Lake City in late 2019 and came away with a better understanding of the disease and possibilities for treatments. At the conference, they met numerous people who have been diagnosed with ALS, many who have been living productive lives for 15 and even 20+ years! Many of the treatments these people took part in resulted in symptoms being drastically changed and reversed, allowing the patient improved quality and quantity of life. The Hudsons are anxious to take advantage of some of these opportunities, although most of the promising treatments are not covered by health insurance, are extremely costly and require travel in various parts of the U.S.
Lisa is a dear friend who has touched not only MY life, but the lives of many others as well. If you know Lisa, you can attest to that. Our hope is that we can bless the Hudson family beyond measure during this most difficult time. It is our desire to reach as many people as possible through GoFundMe, although we know there are those who may wish to express their benevolence more directly.
Updates will be provided on this website as God reveals next steps for the Hudsons and as they move forward in those steps. Thank you for interceding in prayer on their behalf and for helping to make moving forward even a possibility. Help us spread the word!
Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
