Joining the Cancer Club

So I finally got off my ass and scheduled a long-overdue mammogram back in January. I got a letter with my results in February, stating there was "incomplete imaging of the left breast" and that I would need to schedule a follow-up. I grumbled about this but didn't think too much of it at the time. The radiologist came into the room after the follow-up, patted me gently on the arm, and said, "Well, we found something." I had a biopsy on April 3, 2023, and learned that it was malignant on April 6. My friends and family have been there for my husband and me countless times over the past thirty-plus years, and I hate having to ask yet again. But my share of cost has already hit four digits, and I haven't even begun treatment yet. In addition, I am the primary earner for my family, and the odds of me being able to continue work during treatment seem negligible, at best. And so I swallow my pride and hold out my hand once more.
