**Update (October 2, 2018)**
After spending a week in Levine Children's Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, we are thrilled to share that Jadon was moved to the rehabilitation floor of the hospital. Jadon has completed a number of physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions as he progresses in his recovery. Last week, the doctors successfully restored the bone flap and a titanium plate that will allow his skull fracture to heal. We anticipate that this was his final surgical procedure.
Jadon has not suffered any apparent memory loss and has already regained many of his speech patterns. He is slowly making progress with his movement and his physical abilities. While the rehab process may take a significant amount of time, the medical team and our family are optimistic about Jadon's chances to make a full recovery over time.
We continue to remain in awe of the outpouring of love, prayers, and financial support we've received during this difficult time. We have truly seen the reach and impact of the body of Christ from literally all over the world. We are also grateful to the outstanding medical team at Levine Children's Hospital and have been blessed by the hospitality shown to us by the folks at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte. Most of all, we give thanks to God for Jadon's life and continued witness to each of us. We will continue to post periodic updates at http://www.facebook.com/elaine.k.olsen.

As many of you may know, high school senior Jadon Olsen of Laurinburg, North Carolina, was critically injured during Hurricane Florence on Friday, September 14. Jadon sustained his injuries while cleaning up storm-related debris and a fallen tree to enable safe passage on a neighborhood road. He was rushed to the local hospital in critical condition. After treatment and scans, Jadon was transferred to Carolinas Medical Center. We are thankful to the emergency response team that selflessly traveled three hours through hurricane conditions from Charlotte to Laurinburg to retrieve him via a special emergency transport vehicle.
Jadon underwent a three hour surgery to stop bleeding and relieve pressure from his brain. He is currently stable but in critical condition in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Levine Children’s Hospital. In the coming days, we ask that you please #JoinJadonsFight by praying for his healing and for our family in this difficult time.
We have been so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for Jadon. Regardless of his prognosis, which is still very much uncertain, we anticipate the medical bills from his treatment to be significant. We are tremendously grateful for any amount that you feel led to give toward Jadon’s care. For continued updates on Jadon’s status, please visit http://www.facebook.com/elaine.k.olsen
The goal of this GoFundMe is to cover monetary costs resulting from the incident. Donations will be used by the Olsen family to cover Jadon's medical expenses.
