Jojo Martinez Medical Expense Fund

Donation protected
It is with great humility that we appeal to you for financial assistance in support of (our Auntie) Josephine “Jojo” Martinez. Jojo has been hospitalized in Albuquerque for the last several weeks and has a challenging road ahead. Jojo was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer. Surgeons attempted to insert a stent in her intestine to alleviate blockage caused by the disease. During this procedure, part of her intestine was ruptured causing not only excruciating pain, but also very dangerous internal leakage. Subsequently, emergency surgery was ordered. On February 23, 2020, Jojo endured eleven hours of very complex and fragile operations in which her medical team completed a complete gastrectomy (stomach removal). In addition to her stomach, doctors removed Jojo’s pancreas, her spleen, her gall bladder, and re-routed the section of her intestine that had previously been damaged. All of us who know and love Jojo know one thing for certain: she is tougher than the tough times! We have long admired her resolve and strength. Given the resiliency she has demonstrated thus far, our admiration only grows and grows. Let’s lift her up in prayer and show her that she does not fight alone. Whether your path crossed with hers as a member of the great Mora Rangerette teams of the late 1980s; or as the dedicated and award-winning public servant with the New Mexico Department of Transportation; or the fun-loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and partner that she is; we know that Jojo is always ALWAYS ready and willing to help her family, friends, and neighbors. Now Jojo needs our help. The unexpected medical illness and extended hospitalization has caused a financial burden and we want Jojo focusing on her recovery and not worrying about medical bills. So we are asking for donations of any amount that can help defray her expenses. We sincerely appreciate your consideration and your selflessness. In addition to your monetary gift, we ask for your continued prayers and positive energy. We know firsthand that they have and will continue to make a difference. On behalf of Jojo, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We can’t thank you enough for your help during this time. May God bless you!
