As many of you know, but some may not, Jolee has a very rare condition called CMT 2S. She was diagnosed when she was 19 months old after several months of testing. Since then, she has been to multiple different doctors and had several different procedures.
She has always overcome every obstacle that has been put in her path, but this time, her little body is really having a hard time. On Sunday, 1/15, she became very ill and had trouble breathing. She was seen in the ER in Paducah, where she received some treatments and tested positive for rhinovirus. Due to her work of breathing, it was quickly decided she needed to be transferred to a higher level of care. We were transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital that afternoon. She was placed on high flow oxygen with frequent breathing treatments while we were waiting to be admitted. Once we arrived in the PICU later that night, her work of breathing got worse, and she was placed on a Bipap machine to help provide pressure for her lungs. She continued to worsen quickly, and it was decided to place her on a ventilator due to respiratory failure. On Thursday, 1/19, things had finally improved enough to take her off of the ventilator. Unfortunately, when she was removed from the ventilator, her upper airway had immediate swelling, causing her to be placed back on the ventilator. Since that day, she has had some improvements each day, but they have all seemed to come with some type of setback. They are working hard every day to make changes with hopes of seeing progress and the ability to get her off of the ventilator successfully soon.
To know Jolee is to love and adore her. She is such a little warrior and always fights so hard. All of the prayers and support we are receiving have been so appreciated. Anything received from this account will be put toward Jolee's journey. We thank everyone in advance and love you all.
