Help Rebuild Dr. Elston's Vet Practice
Donation protected
Dr. Joleen Elston, DVM, has been practicing equine medicine since 2006. After graduating veterinary school from Washington State University, she moved to the San Diego area in 2007 and quickly became a trusted and well-loved partner to her clients and their equine companions. She has since created a thriving practice with around 1400 clients in the greater San Diego area. Joleen works tirelessly to give her clients the most personal and comprehensive care, and is passionate about educating each client on their respective horse's overall wellbeing longterm.
On Christmas Eve around 6:30am, Joleen's veterinary truck was stolen out of her garage from her home in Fallbrook. The robber was armed and had broken into multiple vehicles in the area before driving off with Joleen's Dodge Ram. Luckily, Joleen, 7 months pregnant who had just been in the garage an hour before, was not present when the robbery occurred.
For three days, the police, friends and family searched the area for her truck. Multiple sightings were reported by witnesses over the course of the weekend, and on Sunday, December 27, the truck was found abandoned in Escondido. Some medications were left in the truck, but unfortunately every piece of veterinary equipment had been taken, including a Poskum X-ray Machine, Vetel X-ray Plate & Laptop, Sonosite Edge Ultrasound, and Makita Equine Dental Unit.
We are asking for your help. This equipment, along with any stolen medications, will be very costly to replace and due to Covid, could take months to arrive once ordered. In the meantime, Dr. Elston is not able to run her practice and care for her clients either in an emergency or for a routine call. No donation is too small; the equine world is small and caring, and in times like these, we need to come together and support someone who has such a profound impact in not only our lives, but also those of our beloved equines.
