My name is Joliet Shuff

I am currently a student at Southeastern Louisiana University, majoring in Vocal Music Education. I am in my Junior year and am approaching my Senior year. I have sung all my life in different musical settings such as churches, vocal competitions, and at schools. I recently placed 2nd in the Regional NATS Southern Conference. I also just recently conducted for the first time in a choral setting as well as submitted one of my compositions for a competition. I also have my own Youtube channel which will be linked below to showcase a performance of mine within a professional classical setting. I am from a small town called, "Central'' located near Baton Rouge in Louisiana. It's a small town that isn't well known for its arts but has a wonderful sports program. Being from a small town, I wouldn't have expected to be accepted into a prestigious Italian Opera program. This program is referred to as "La Musica Lirica'' https://lamusicalirica.com/ . It has been proven to be an absolutely incredible experience for all of those who have participated in the past. This would be the program in which I would be making my opera debut as "Doralice '' from Il Trionfo dell'onore by A. Scarlatti. This is an important role for someone such as me who is an undergraduate student. The mere fact that I was offered this role as a student who is not in her Master's degree yet is a tremendous honor. These funds would be going towards food, flight, transportation, passport, housing, medical bills, communication, and the program itself. I would be performing in a fully staged opera with costumes and piano in the city of "Novafeltria'' in Italy. I would also be recieving two 45 minute vocal lessons every week, as well as performing in concerts for the people of the town. I would be taking Italian classes and doing staging rehearsals too. As just a 20 year old from a small town in the middle of nowhere, compared to all of the students who auditioned from big cities, this means the world to me. I was chosen for this role at such a young age. Any big or small donation is appreciated. And I will continuously update the progress of this fundraiser through social media. I will be having benefit concerts as well, which anyone who does or doesn't donate is invited to. I really do appreciate any help. And I look forward to making my opera debut in honor of my family, friends, and the small town that started it all. A huge thank you as well to all the teachers who helped me grow and really lean into my passion for music.
