Just weeks after Joli's 1st Birthday, on July 20th, our sweet Joli was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor, a rare childhood cancer of the kidney.
July 22nd, she underwent surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital to remove her kidney, the tumor and 6 lymph nodes from 3 different spots in her body.
After feeling like things were going to be smooth sailing, they got a call on August 17th from the head of the Children's tumor board that they had misdiagnosed the stage of Joli's tumor. It was stage 3, and they would need to get a port put in for the treatment that she now will need with it being further along than they had initially thought.
There is still so much to understand and figure out, but we do know for sure is what lies ahead - months of chemotherapy and radiation, and multiple trips to Seattle each week.
Katie has taken a leave from work, and as you can imagine, this has been an extremely stressful time for all of them. We are attempting to remove one of these stressors by raising money to handle the uncovered medical costs, everyday living expenses, etc. Jeremy, Katie, Kaleigh and Joli are forever grateful.
