Jolly's Battle with Pneumonia
Donation protected
Meet Jolly, a 3 month old puppy that we adopted on December 10th. She is an early surprise Christmas present for our kids, who have been longing for another dog companion after having to say goodbye to our family dog of 15 years in February of this year.
In the short time Jolly has been in our lives, she has touched our hearts with her incredibly sweet personality. On Sunday (The 5th day she was with us), we began to notice some upper respiratory symptoms and brought her in to the vet right away Monday morning. At that time, it seemed she had a simple upper respiratory infection and was started on oral antibiotics.
Unfortunately, she quickly declined and required IV antibiotics and fluids on Wednesday & Thursday, as she became very lethargic and stopped eating and drinking due to the infection quickly turning into pneumonia.
They tried a different IV antibiotic Thursday that finally seemed to bring her fever down, and they are just now feeling hopeful she may start to turn the corner. However, she is by no means out of the woods.
Her right lung is filled with fluid, with the left lung being "ok." We were informed just how important it is that her left lung stay "ok" while they continue to work on clearing the infection in the right lung to give her the best chance of survival.
The most effective way to treat the pneumonia at her stage of illness is IV antibiotics and continued fluid replacement until she feels up to eating and drinking again. We hope this occurs sooner than later for Jolly's sake, but do not know how long this may take.
We realize the financial strain this time of year can bring. If Jolly's story touches your heart and you'd like to help give this sweetheart her best chance at recovery, your consideration in donating, praying and sharing her story are extremely appreciated.
