Jon Boehle Medical Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Jon suffered fractured and broken ribs, collapsed lung, severe bruising on both lungs, dislocated knee along with broken bones surrounding the knee, loss of blood flow to the lower extremity of his leg, broken ulna in his forearm, and a concussion.
Jon was transported by ambulance from the wreckage to the Humbolt, Iowa county hospital where ER administered an IV, took x-rays and a CT scan, and prepped him for his emergency flight by helicopter to the trauma center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Upon arrival to the trauma center he received emergency surgery of a tube in his collapsed lung and performed vascular surgery on the arteries behind his broken knee to obtain blood flow to his lower leg, which took several hours to complete. From there, Jon had about 12 hours of recovery time before the next surgery yet to come, which was surgically installing an external metal fixator to his leg and knee to keep it stabilized until the the next surgery can be performed.
We expect that Jon has a long recovery road ahead and want to do everything we can to help him financially as it looks to be quite awhile before he’ll be back to work. Please help us show him some support.
