Jonah - Animated Short

Hello, My name is Eric Montgomery, and I am raising funds for an animated short on the story of Jonah.

After completing a course on creative writing, I contemplated which stories to tell. I have learned that people tend to write what they know. The only way to remain diligent and enthusiastic about a project is to have the same passion and respect for the subject matter. After completing several scripts, the ones that rose to the top in quality and focus were the ones based on Bible characters.

I have taken great pains to write a story that is thoroughly consistent with scripture, being fully respectful to the source material, which includes input from a theologian, a retired pastor and member of the Navigators, and other believers.

I have connected with the story of Jonah because it asks us to consider what God wants from humanity… a change of heart and mind. There is an old saying, “God loves me just the way I am.” But Jonah's story causes us to focus on the other half of that old saying, “But God loves you too much to leave you that way.” He calls for changed hearts and minds. And what should be our response to the redemption of enemies? The same as God. I think this story can put us in that discussion with others in and outside the church.

The funds will be used solely to finance professional artists to create Disney-quality line-art animation for voice talent, editing and music scoring.
