For the third year in a row, Jonas Clarke Middle School's Science Olympiad team led by esteemed 6th-grade science teacher, Stephanie Kozak along with Lexington High School coaches (Aurora Wang, Sishir Mahavadi, and Stephanie Wan) will be competing in Nationals on May 25, 2024, at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Founded in 1984, Science Olympiad is the premier team STEM competition in the nation, providing standards-based challenges to 6,000 teams at 425 tournaments in all 50 states. Similar to the Olympics, there are 23 events spanning many disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, inquiry, environmental space science , and engineering. It is worth noting this is only the third year Clarke has participated at the middle school level, and these young, bright minds have yet again made a sizable impact this season winning first place at the Massachusetts state competition! As a newer team, we are still in the process of establishing a sustainable funding source for the program. In the meantime, the money raised will be used to support the coaches and students preparing for, traveling to, and competing in the upcoming National Competition. Thank you for your support!
