Medical expenses for Jonathan Andrews

Hi, my name is Tara Andrews and I am Jonathan’s older sister. I truly never thought that this is where I would be going to ask for help.
I never pictured us being in this position in our life and now that it’s been over 16 months of watching my parents give everything they have, time 24h- 7 days a week care and paying out of pocket for every single test that OHIP doesn’t cover for 28 year olds.. which is every test.
its been quite the struggle to witness.
I am so grateful that my fiancé John and I am can provide a home and a safe place for Jonathan to be with his family.
It’a quite out of character for us to ask for help. My mom & dad alongside Jonathan are some of the most giving people on this earth and I feel privileged to be apart of this family.
I would love for this to be a platform in which Jonathan can give some updates as he sees fits but truly he’s not himself. Most days he’s just going through the motions but working hard to regain enough strength to travel over to Thailand.
As our Canadian health care system has really let him down, we’re hopeful that the treatment facility in Thailand will be able to give us more answers but most of all HOPE for a brighter future.
A month ago Jonathan was visited by some great friends and a post was made dedicated to him and I’d like to share that below as it holds so many truths to his character and why he and my parents deserve this help right now.
Quoted from Dan Shaikh
“Meet Jonathan Andrews, one of the most incredible human beings I've encountered on my journey with Speaker Slam.
Before Speaker Slam was born, we were part of a Toastmasters group at the Center for Social Innovation. Jonathan's charisma and charm didn't just impress us; he swiftly became an invaluable member, eventually taking on the role of President.
In the early days of Speaker Slam, Jonathan competed fiercely, securing 2nd place at the 2017 Grand Slam, just behind Joze Piranian. His dedication didn't wane; he continued to support Speaker Slam while also embarking on a mission to become a Youth Speaker for Mental Health with Jack.org.
Jonathan's commitment to excellence was evident. He selflessly supported communities, aiming to uplift and better the lives of others. In 2020, during the pandemic, he returned to Speaker Slam, delivering a heartfelt speech dedicated to his father in the Family competition and winning.
His talents didn't go unnoticed. He won book coaching with Tabitha Rose's "Life to Paper" Publishing company and, a year later, released his own book. Jonathan also initiated circles to guide men towards becoming better versions of themselves, offering emotional support throughout their journeys.
However, life threw a curveball. Jonathan's health took a turn, and for the past two years, he's been on a challenging journey to regain his mobility. The exact diagnosis remains unknown, and this uncertainty has tested his mental health.
Yet, the journey that once centered around inspiring others with powerful speeches has transformed into a testament to resilience, strength, and unwavering determination. Despite the hurdles he faces daily, Jonathan's spirit remains unbroken.
I recently had the privilege of visiting him. Even in these trying times, Jonathan's sense of humor shined through. I gained insight into his daily struggles and the relentless efforts he puts into his recovery. A massive shoutout to John, Laura, and the entire Andrew family & friends who stand by him.
Jonathan's current state doesn't deter him. He continues to inspire all around him, reminding us that true strength isn't just physical but also lies in the power of the mind and heart.
To Jonathan: Your journey has resonated with and inspired countless individuals. Your resilience serves as a beacon of hope for us all. We stand with you at every twist and turn. Keep fighting, keep inspiring, and always remember the deep love and admiration we hold for you. I love you, brother!
If Jonathan has touched your life in any way, please share a cherished memory you have with him in the comments, or send him a message of love and support as he bravely faces this challenge.
#JonathanAndrews”
with Men’s health month coming up in November this seems like the right time to be asking for some help.
With all my heart even if you donate a prayer to Jonathan’s recovery I would be forever grateful.
