The Jonathan Harris Scholarship
Donation protected
Please join me in expanding the scholarship fund for more future scholars, artists, and creators who, like me, attended school in Detroit. I’m making the first donation of $3,000. Let's inspire and support a new generation together.
I'm Jonathan Harris, a visual artist from Detroit, known for my work in oil paints, acrylics, and charcoal including the piece Critical Race Theory, that has garnered responses and sparked conversations across social media platforms around the world. My art aims to shed light on current events and the African American experience, inspiring pride within the Black community.
I've been fortunate to receive recognition for my art, including features on PBS American Black Journal, CBS Local, and the Detroit Free Press, among others. In 2022, I was named one of 2022's Influential Artists To Watch by the Detroit News and received The Spirit of Detroit Award from the City Council of Detroit.
This year DPSCD asked to include my work in the district-wide curriculum. As an alumni of Detroit School for the Fine and Performing Arts, I felt drawn to share the opportunity forward and donate a large portion of the proceeds to create a scholarship. This scholarship is to help students have the money to pay for supplies or other things that more traditional scholarships might not cover as they continue their education.
