Jonathan Swain Memorial Fund
Donation protected
As many of you know by now, Jonathan Swain passed away suddenly on July 10th at home of a massive heart attack. He was only 58 years old. The loss to the family is incalculable.
Jonathan leaves behind his adoring family, Layne Messing Swain, his wife of 25 years and his son, Jesse. Layne is now dealing with her own medical challenges which leave her vulnerable to the pandemic, and will probably prevent her from returning to work when it eventually comes out of lockdown.
Jonathan was a 30 year member of Local 52 IATSE, working in the film/TV industry, along with Layne, where he was highly regarded. “In our land of smoke and mirrors, Jonathan was genuine. No matter how challenging the task at hand, his presence inspired confidence. The knowledge he imparted, the lessons of loyalty and friendship and family were instilled by the example he set and extend far beyond the realm of our industry."
A loyal friend, a hard working colleague, a mentor to many, he lived his life in service to others. A kind man with a gentle spirit.
We would like to set up a memorial fund to help the family at this difficult time. The film/TV industry has been in lockdown since March 15 and still is not up and running. In addition, unemployment and Federal Covid Aid has been frozen for all three members of the family due to a broken NJ system, with no income for the past 6 weeks.
Unfortunately, Jonathan was very close to retirement and passed before receiving his pension.
We are asking for help as a memorial fund for the family during this time of crisis, bills and medical expenses.
