Jonathan Wright's Funeral and Memorial Fund
Donation protected
We are collecting donations on behalf of our dear friend, Jonathan Wright, and his family. (his memorial page can be found here, where we invite you to share memories).
Jonathan, a devoted husband, father of four, faithful friend, and emergency doctor, suffered a tragic accident on August 11th while camping with his family. He is survived by his angel wife Sara, and their four young children, who have had to make their farewells to their kind and compassionate dad -- their hero -- a man who had helped so many others on the worst day of their lives. While Jon's loving friends immediately and expertly attended him at the scene, his brain activity never recovered. However, because of their heroic efforts, his family had the option to extend the selflessness Jonathan personified each day and choose full organ donation as his last parting gift. Jonathan was commemorated in an organ donor Honor Walk as he made his way into the OR for the last time at Kootenai Health Center.
We are asking for help on the Wright family's behalf to help with the unexpected expenses of his funeral, including transporting him to Utah for his burial, and to help carry Sara into this new chapter with her children, ages ten to two. Jonathan was a light to anyone who got the privilege to know him -- ultimately, the most meaningful way to honor him is to treat others with kindness and love. We are grateful for the Lord, who is our strength in these trying times and who will help us all as we look to Him in every thought. Doctrine and Covenants 6:36
A memorial service was held Thursday, August 17th at the Hanley building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2293 W Hanley Ave, Coeur d'Alene, ID, along with services in Utah.
Jonathan's obituary and memorial page can be found HERE, where we would love to have you share your memories with him.
Your love and support is appreciated.
Update: We hit the initial goal of $30,000, and then $60,00, and then $80,000 (thank you SO much for your donations, large and small), and we have increased the goal as more people have reached out wanting to help this family as they've been inspired by Jonathan's story. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity -- are humbled by it -- and moved to tears for how much the community has rallied for the Wrights -- especially at a time when many are suffering (prayers for Maui).
There is no podium of pain, but there is such beautiful power in people contributing what they can to mourn with those who mourn and comfort where they can give comfort. Thank you. ❤️
