Another young and promising life taken too soon.... On August 30, 2015, 22 year old Jonathan Chavez and his best friend were involved in a horrible traffic accident in Victorville which took both their lives.
In his unimaginably brief lifetime, Jonathan Chavez distinguished himself as a unique and amazing young man. Every day Jonathan’s family and friends were blessed by his boundless joy, uplifting spirit, and infectious smile. Jonathan never took himself too seriously, and celebrated life and music with intensity. But Jonathan’s loyalty remained unwavering, his compassion genuine, and his love unquestionable.
Jonathan’s passion for helping others reached far beyond his own family and friends. Jonathan actively supported his Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He volunteered to help special-needs kids play soccer with the Victorville Youth Soccer League. And, he helped raise money for breast cancer research by participating in multiple “Relay for Life” events. Clearly, Jonathan had a profound and lasting impact on everyone he met.
After graduating in 2011 from University Prep in Victorville, California, Jonathan matriculated as a Business major at the University of California, Riverside. Jonathan was a Student Supervisor with UC Riverside Dining Services, he worked at the Barn, and most recently was employed at the HUB.
Jonathan is survived by his loving Mother, Jennifer Chavez, and his loving Sister, Alexandra Holguin.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read about how special Jonathan Chavez was to our entire family.
