Jen’s Cancer Story

My amazing mother Joan will be turning 75 this year and was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. For those of you who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being. She is loving, kind, unbelievably strong and always puts her friends and family before herself.
She underwent surgery in November to remove the cancer which in turn they took part of her lung and was successful. But, with further testing cancerous cells were detected in her lymph nodes. As a result, she will be having to undergo 4 months of chemothearapy. She is still recovering from her surgery and the everyday simple things that you and I may not even give a thought to are struggles for my mother like taking a shower, getting dressed, brushing your teeth.
Because of this, she has been unable to work her part time job and most likely will not return. She is already on a fixed income. She has a wonderful family and great friends who provide emotional support from a distance (because of Covid) and do what they can financially. A big portion of her medical expenses are not covered and with the everyday necessities of life, money is getting tighter and tighter.
Joan is one of the strongest, most selfless person I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it.
Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Joan. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. If all you can do at this time is pray to help her with focusing on getting through her chemo treatments and still recovering from her surgery, we welcome that as well! Please spread the word.
