Jon's cancer fund for medical costs

Hi, my name is Melane. I am starting this gofund me for my brother Jon who can't seem to catch a break at the moment.

Jon was just getting his life together, after being laid off from a job for nearly 6 months he landed a great job this past February in Texas. He was excited to be getting a fresh start at a job that recognized both his talent and ability, doing something he enjoyed and felt like play for him.

Fast forward to this May. He went in for a checkup to find he was being diagnosed with cancer. Originally they thought it was Lymphoma. However, through further testing, it was discovered to be a rare form of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, stage two. They believe it originated in his tonsils but somehow migrated to his lungs.

He has two main growths and several small ones. The big ones are on either side of his neck. One is attached to his main artery, and the other is pressing on his nerves causing him to have severe migraines, also making surgery impossible.

On June 2nd he started Chemo, making going to work impossible, having compromised his immune system for the foreseeable future. He is being told he may lose his insurance and is seeking all of the help that is offered to others in his situation. The Doctors are hoping to shrink the growths enough that they can begin radiation here in the near future. July 12th he will be having his tonsils removed to prepare for Radiation.

He received his first bill recently, and not being able to work, he is feeling the crushing weight of being responsible while having to rely on others, where until recently he has been extremely independent and hesitant to ask for and/or accept help in the past...until this cripling and unexpected adventure. As family and friends, we are trying to help him, but things are adding up more quickly than we can keep up with. We are hoping as we put this out there, that you may have the ability to help relieve some of the weight through donations. Any little bit would be greatly appreciated and used specifically toward mounting bills.

Jon is incredibly thankful for the prayers, thoughts and all that is being done for him. He has been there to help others through their rough times and we are just hoping we can help him through his.

Jon is currently having to fight his previous job and insurance as he tries to get his cobra in place. It appears they are doing things intentionally to make it difficult for Jon to get the full assistance he has been told is available. Namely, prescriptions paid for. The prescriptions he is in need of right now are for helping manage the effects of his Proton Therapy, or radiation treatments. As you can imagine, these prescriptions aren’t cheap. Any Donations you are able to help with at this moment will help him receive the prescriptions he is needing and go towards bills. He is very appreciative and realizes this is no small ask, at the same time any small amount would be of great help right now. Again, thank you for your prayers and well wishes, he is feeling and recognizing their influence as well.
