Jonte's WCMX Rollstuhl (Wheelchair)

Das Video ist im Rahmen eines Spendenaufrufs bei einer BMX und Surf Show, bei der ich die letzten 10 Jahre mitgefahren bin und nun als Jurymitglied mitwirken kann, entstanden.
Während dieses ersten Teils des Crowdfundings, sind schon unglaubliche 3000 Euro zusammengekommen. Nun brauche ich deine Hilfe, um auch den Rest für einen WCMX Rollstuhl zusammen zu bekommen, meinen Traum verwirklichen zu können und wieder voll in meinen Sport einsteigen zu können.

Mein Name ist Jonte und ich fahre seit ich 9 Jahre alt bin für mein Leben gerne BMX.
Vor knapp 2 Jahren hatte ich einen Unfall, der mein Leben für immer verändert und das BMX fahren für mich beendet hat.
Nach einem Schädelbruch, gebrochener Wirbelsäule, zwei Wochen Koma und drei monatiger Reha musste ich mich wieder voll ins Leben kämpfen. Mittlerweile wohne ich wieder in einer eigenen Wohnung und habe mein Studium wieder aufgenommen, bin aber seit Mai 2018 ab knapp unter der Brust Querschnittgelähmt und auf einen Rollstuhl angewiesen.
Als ich im Frühjahr 2018 im Krankenhaus lag, kam ich so langsam dahinter, dass ich meinen so geliebten Sport wohl nie wieder ausüben kann.
„Sport“ ist eigentlich das falsche Wort, denn BMX war nie nur ein Hobby für mich, sondern etwas, über das meine engsten Freundschaften entstanden sind und worüber ich mich die letzten 15 Jahre identifiziert habe. Es war für mich einfach nie wegzudenken.
Egal in welcher Lebenslage, ob Schüler, Azubi, Student oder Rollstuhlfahrer, für mich und mein Umfeld war immer klar: Ich bin BMXer.
Erst dachte ich, dass es nun im Rollstuhl wohl keine Alternativen für mich gäbe.
Aber da hatte ich mich geirrt: WCMX!
Beim WCMX oder auch Rollstuhlskaten wird der Rollstuhl auf den Skatepark-Rampen gefahren wie sonst Skateboards oder ein BMX.
Das Problem ist nur, dass man hierfür einen speziellen Rollstuhl braucht, der für die harte Fahrweise ausgelegt ist und sie auch aushält, denn mein Alltagsrollstuhl hat bereits jetzt seine Kapazitäten erreicht. Im Falle, dass er beim skaten kaputt geht, kann ich ihn nicht einfach nach Hause schieben und reparieren, meine gesamte Mobilität ist von diesem Rollstuhl abhängig. Diese zu verlieren, kann ich nicht riskieren.
Was ich vor meinem Unfall nicht wusste, alles was mit Rollstühlen zu tun hat ist extrem teuer!
So ein Rollstuhl kann je nach benötigten Spezifikationen mind. 10.000 bis 15.000 Euro kosten, was ich mir als Student einfach nicht leisten kann.
Dementsprechend fehlen mir nach dem ersten Start der Kampagne beim OceanJump noch ungefähr 8000 Euro damit ich meiner Leidenschaft weiter folgen und meinen Traum erfüllen kann. Dabei bitte ich dich um deine Hilfe!

Hi, my name is Jonte and ever since I was 9 years old, riding my BMX bike was the love of my life!
Almost two years ago now, I had a severe accident that would change everything. I broke my skull and my spine and was in a coma for about two weeks. And after three months in a rehabilitation facility, I had to start fighting my way back to life. I became a full-time wheelchair user and have a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) that paralyzed me from the chest down.
It was while lying in my hospital bed in the spring of 2018 that I slowly realized that I would never be able to ride my beloved bike ever again and that was horrible for me! Riding BMX has always meant way more to me than just a sport or casual hobby. Over the past 15 years, it has become part of my identity and through which I found my closest and longest friendships. I could have never imagined myself without it. It never mattered where I stood in life—a trainee, a student, or a wheelchair-user—to me and everyone around me it was always clear: I am a BMXer.
I thought as a wheelchair user with an SCI there wouldn’t be any alternative available for me anymore. But I was wrong: there is WCMX. In ‘Wheelchair Moto Cross’ or ‘Wheelchair-Skating’ we ride wheelchairs through Skateparks the same as others do with a skateboard or BMX bike!
However, the issue is that my every-day wheelchair I left the hospital with is anything but built to be Skatepark durable and survive crashes and maneuvers. Also, if my only wheelchair winds up broken, I can’t just walk home or repair it. Literally all my mobility depends on it and I cannot risk losing that.
And I learned something else I didn’t know before my accident: anything concerning wheelchairs is insanely expensive and very little is covered—even by German health insurance. For me, that means the potential way back to my beloved sport will cost a minimum of 10,000 and up to 15,000 Euros. As a full-time student living independently back in my own apartment in Berlin after successfully returning to University, I just don’t have the funds to cover the cost of a WCMX chair.
During a BMX and surf show in my hometown recently, my BMX community helped me take the first step in a crowd-funding campaign. For 10 years I rode in this annual show and continue to be a part of the jury board. This year they helped me raise about 3000 Euros towards a WCMX wheelchair!
Now there is about 8000 Euros missing to make my dream come true and I am asking for your help! It would mean so much to be to be able to afford a WCMX wheelchair and continue doing what I love.
