Help the Bos' Make a Baby!

We are Jony and Emily Bos and we want to thank you for taking a moment from your day to visit our Fertility Fundraiser!

Being vulnerable is hard. Being vulnerable to the point that you begin to ask your friends and family for money is even harder. So we do not enter into this fundraiser lightly. Yet we are realizing that there has to come a time when you put your pride aside and let people in.

We are beyond grateful for how God provides and shows us love on a daily basis. Married since 2009, we have seen God move us half way across the world to England where He provided for us for an entire year nearly rent free; stir us to follow our passions in teaching and ministry; and move us half way across the country (from our native California to Nashville, Tennessee).

If we have not yet had the opportunity to meet you and share our story, we have been praying for a child for 4 years. We have been through some minor testing, which has all come back trouble free, yet still have had no success becoming pregnant. There are good days and bad days; amazing days and horrible days. Sometimes it feels like you’re standing on the sidelines waiting to be picked to play; watching friends and family, some of whom are new to the team get picked first, and some even getting to go in for their second or third round while you’re still anxiously waiting your first time on the field.

Now we are at what feels like a tipping point. This must be what base jumping feels like your first time: you have to hurl yourself into the unknown, knowing that there is a chance the outcome may not exactly be what you’re desiring. If there is a problem, there might be an easy solution! Then again, there might not. I wouldn’t go as far as saying ‘ignorance is bliss,’ because purgatory isn’t all that fun either. We want to know if there is something keeping us from our dream, but knowing also means getting in the fight — for real.

So here we are, 4 years in and yet right at the beginning. For some of you reading this you may know exactly what we’re feeling and may be familiar with the road we have ahead of us. This is where the vulnerability part really comes in. When you are struggling with an issue like infertility you run the full gamut of emotions — often in cycles. Hope, courage, anticipation, heartbreak, anger, confusion, doubt, defeat. Repeat.

Through a lot of prayer and discussion we are ready to take the next step in our fertility story - but we need your help! Infertility testing (not even mentioning treatments) are not covered by insurance and the costs can be astronomical. During this chapter we are still seeking diagnosis. Unfortunately the tests that need to be performed are very expensive.  Since December 2014 we have spent over $3,000 and know that this could only be the tip of the iceburg. We are constantly seeking God's voice, provision, comfort and guidance as to when and what comes next.

Here is what we do know:

Emily:
- Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 15 years ago; resulting in several surgeries, tests and rounds of intense medications. We have no way of knowing whether the Crohn's has effected her ability to conceive.
- Basic blood work has come back normal.
- Ultra sounds have not shown any cysts.
- HSG test could not be performed as her cervix needs to be dialted. (Test will have to be done at a Fertility Center - which costs significantly more.)
- The current thought is that Luteal Phase Defect could be a part of the problem.
- Acupuncture and Herbal Supplements have shown a positive effect on overall cycle length, symptoms and luteal phase.
- As far as we are aware; Emily has never conceived.

Jony:
- Test came back A-okay!

What's next:
- Consultation with Fertility Specialist
- HSG Test
- Test Hormone Levels
- Continue acupuncture and supplements.

... And past that - we don't know. Ultrasounds? Fertility drugs? Surgery? IVF? It's a big scary world of unknowns - but with your support and prayers we are ready to face it!

We understand wholly that giving a financial blessing may not be within your current means; in which case we humbly ask you remember us in your prayers!

We can't thank you enough for your love & support!
